A Virtual Preparatory Academy of Oklahoma educator is helping elevate the conversation around gifted education at the state level.
Kendra Webb, Gifted & Talented Coordinator at Virtual Prep, successfully advocated for an official proclamation from the State of Oklahoma recognizing the first full week of April as Gifted & Talented Awareness Week.

The recognition underscores the importance of supporting advanced learners not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. It reflects a growing statewide commitment to meeting students where they are.
“Bringing awareness to the needs of gifted students is essential,” said Webb. “I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to provide meaningful challenges and consistent support so that gifted learners can reach their full potential.”
At Virtual Prep, that philosophy is already in practice. The school prioritizes differentiated instruction and enrichment opportunities designed to challenge students, foster critical thinking, and support individual passions.
“This moment reflects what’s possible when educators lead beyond the classroom,” said Erin Robins, Head of School. “We’re proud to see our team shaping conversations that impact students across the state.”
As schools and communities across Oklahoma recognize Gifted & Talented Awareness Week, Virtual Preparatory Academy of Oklahoma continues its commitment to ensuring advanced learners are supported, challenged, and empowered to thrive.
